Sophie Farewell: However you do it… Consider the Stars

However You Do It…Consider the Stars is composed of two sculptural installations and related performances. Two works entitled
 The Moon and The Mountain will function as elevated stage sets for live performances by trained actors in the guise of town criers who call out short scripts generated by the crowd below. By anonymously text messaging the town criers during Nuit Blanche, you create the opportunity to have your social, political and/or personal messages hollered to the street audience. Over an eight-hour period the performance will comprise hundreds of thirty-second messages alternating with the ringing of the traditional hand-held bell of a town crier.

About the Artist Collective

Sophie Farewell is a Calgary-based collective of four artists. Eric Moschopedis is an award winning interdisciplinary performer, educator, and curator, whose participatory works invite collaborators to create ‘community’. Shawn Dicey’s recordings and performances focus on progression and development and the critical examination of personal and global histories. Mia Rushton is a mixed media artist, aligning herself with do-it-yourself artists that embrace handcrafts. Heather Kai Smith focuses on producing complex, evocative drawings, and often exhibits in non-conventional artist initiatives.
